ShotCAM Beta Part 3

In this part, we will cover the CBX and RBX configuration. The CBX will operate as the core access point in bridge mode, and the RBX will operate as a client, also in bridge mode.

CBX Configuration

Log into the Nanostation designated to be the Core Bridge Transmitter and select the Network Tab. Set the following:

  • Network Mode: Bridge
  • Static IP
    • IP Address 192.168.1.20
    • Netmask: 255.255.255.0
    • Gateway IP: 192.168.1.1

CBX-Network

Now choose the Wireless tab and set the following:

  • Wireless Mode: Access Point
  • WDS (Transparent Bridge Mode): Enable (checked)
  • SSID: ubnt
  • IEEE 802.11 Mode: United States
  • Wireless Security
    • Security: WPA2-AES
    • WPA Authentication: PSK
    • WPA Preshared Key: shotcam

CBX-Wifi

I directly connected to each Nanostation to configure them. Please, modify the subnet as necessary for your application or network.
After configuring those items, the Main tab should look something like this, without any connected clients. Note the CBX MAC Address, you will need to enter it into the RBX in the next steps.

RBX Configuration

Log into the Nanostation designated to be the Remote Bridge Transmitter and select the Network Tab. Set the following:

  • Network Mode: Bridge
  • Static IP
    • IP Address 192.168.1.21
    • Netmask: 255.255.255.0
    • Gateway IP: 192.168.1.1

RBX-Network

Now choose the Wireless tab and set the following:

  • Wireless Mode: Station
  • Lock to AP: [MAC-Address-Of-CBX]
  • WDS (Transparent Bridge Mode): Enable (checked)
  • SSID: ubnt
  • IEEE 802.11 Mode: United States
  • Wireless Security
    • Security: WPA2-AES
    • WPA Authentication: PSK
    • WPA Preshared Key: shotcam

RBX-Wifi

After configuration, aim the CBX at the RBX to bring the bridge up. You should see link lights on the back of each Nanostaton indicating signal strength and network activity. Once the link is up, the Main page should look something like this:
